KID BRITISH Reward School Pupils with exclusive gig at the Hard Rock Cafe
Manchester band KID BRITISH performed an exclusive gig at the Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester Printworks on Saturday, in recognition of excellent or improved school attendance. The gig was the final event in a series of rewards including designer school badges from Crayola and Ben Sherman.
The MOTIV Attendance Challenge has produced significant improvements in school attendance in each authority it has been launched including Manchester, Nottingham, Oldham and Salford to date. Pupils are awarded badges and rewards for 100% attendance or 100% effort for their attendance so that all pupils are able to meet the Challenge despite their individual home circumstances.
‘The demand for the gig was overwhelming’ commented MOTIV director Rose Marley ‘We had two hundred attendees from twenty one schools from across Oldham, Salford and Manchester attending. It’s a great way to get across the simple message that hard work equals reward.’
The gig has been arranged as part of the MOTIV Experiences designed to offer school pupils an insight into their future choices. ‘When you are at school you have no idea of what matters in the real world and no concept of how skipping a day off school here and there is having a long term detrimental effect’ said band member Simeon. ‘I’d be sacked if I missed band rehearsals or gigs!’ Kid British are tipped for the top after a major record deal was signed with Mercury Records last year, their latest single ‘Our House is Dadless’ is currently a Radio One single of the week and tipped for chart domination on release in July. Their album ‘It Was This Or Football’ follows in September.
The Challenge ran across over 200 primary and secondary schools in the Spring Term, reaching 80,000 school children in the Greater Manchester region has been heavily supported by sponsors including Crayola, Ben Sherman, Nando’s, Hollywood Bowl, Oldham Athletic FC, FC United, ODEON Cinemas, Hard Rock Cafe, Channel M and MEN Media.
Hard Rock Cafe Marketing Manager Dave Atkinson enthused ‘We are really pleased to be involved with this initiative. Coming to the Hard Rock Café at Manchester’s Printworks is a treat in itself so this is going to be really special reward for pupils who have shown commitment.’
