The MOTIV scheme has provided a tool to motivate our pupils based upon a framework that we already had in place. Attendance has increased across the board in all areas. There is a drastic decrease in the P.A children. One pupil who was referred to the EWO last year now has 100% attendance this year. He wants the cards!!! The 100% Challenge has been a great success in our school. During the first 6 weeks out attendance has improved by almost 5%. The posters around school and the materials provided to support the scheme are fantastic and raise the profile of attendance throughout the week. It would be lovely to have a character come visit our school as we have seen in media clips from other schools. I think our children would love that.” Assistant Headteacher, Wistaston Green Primary School, Crewe
“One persistent absentee has been particularly motivated by the LEGO and with the other support available for the family, has improved their attendance dramatically!” Deputy Head, Mellers Primary School, Nottingham
“Thanks ever so much for providing the additional prizes for us. MOTIV is really making a difference to the attendance figures. It follows, therefore that the impact on outcomes for children will be very positive if they are attending school regularly.
Our attendance has been creeping up since MOTIV was introduced. Our target is 95% and we have surpassed that each year. Presently it is 97% which is brilliant” Lily Lane Primary School, Manchester
“The campaign has had a real impact on the profile of attendance and punctuality. For my children the reward of a badge and Top Trumps has been enough of an incentive to galvanise their support. The teachers are logging any late arrivals in minutes because we decided that it was very important to alert children and parents of the amount of time lost” Berridge Junior School, Nottingham
“We have been pleased with the rewards we have received from MOTIV. I also found the support staff I have spoken to on the phone both helpful and supportive. The kids have been enthusiastic and have wanted to collect the full set of MOTIV badges and were also very pleased with the star prizes that MOTIV have given us. Many thanks for all your help and support and we hope this will be running next year too” Claremont Primary School, Manchester
“We can’t believe that we have 182 pupils still with 100% attendance. We laughed at the start saying that the badges you originally sent would last a whole year for our children. How wrong we were! We are holding a special presentation ceremony on Tuesday morning to give out the badges” Wistaston Green Primary School, Crewe
“The children really love receiving their badges and many of them wear them as part of their uniform. They are also looking forward to receiving their prizes for 100% for the whole term. The badges and prizes are really helping to make a difference to our attendance.” Headteacher, Charlestown Community Primary School, Manchester

“The system has worked really well and the children have responded well to the incentives offered. The system for recording attendance is simple and the staff at MOTIV are extremely helpful. We had some difficulties with the prizes due to religious restrictions. The office were very understanding and sent alternative rewards, which were gratefully received by the pupils. We decided to offer maximum effort to those children who had to miss school for medical appointments, but not for children who are off due to illness. We have noticed that many children who would have taken the rest of the day off after e.g. a dentist appointment, now come straight back to school.” Attendance Leader, King David Junior School, Manchester
